The DLA-X500R delivers stunning picture detail at an unprecedented value thanks to JVC's exclusive 4K e-shift3 technology which accepts Native 4K 60Pthrough the 4K enabled HDMI inputs and up-converts existing 1080P sources to 4K. The three discrete DILA devices in the DLA-X500R produce a stable imagewith no flicker and a class leading 60,000:1 Native Contrast Ratio for peak whites and deep blacks.
For 2014, JVC adds an Intelligent Lens Aperture which results in a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 600,000:1. While the DLA-X500R looks fantastic right out ofthe box, you can optimize it to your room by using the on-screen gamma control, 7-Axis Color Management System, High Precision Pixel Alignment and more.
All JVC 4k e-shift3 projectors feature a native 4K input.
The Native 4K sources provide a significant boost in picture quality. From the original 4K data JVC creates an A frame and a B frame. There is nointerpolation. Through a proprietary process, the correct pixels are selected for each frame. The projector works at double the conventional speed.Then, the 4K e-shift3 mechanism takes each B frame and shifts it down and over a pixel. This creates four 4K sub-pixels in the space of oneconventional HD pixel. The viewers eyes and brain combine the A frame and B frame to create the projected 4K e-shift3 image which is seen on thescreen.
Compatible 4K signals include:Full HD Signals Are Scaled to 4K with JVCs exclusive Multi Pixel Control, and a new auto mode simplifies operation. The projector detects theoriginal resolution, then analyzes the data frame by frame & pixel by pixel. Detail enhancement, dynamic contrast and smoothing are selectivelyapplied in the process of scaling the content to 4K. From that data, individual A frames and B frames are created, which are displayed using the 4Ke-shift3 process. (See diagram above)

D-ILA (Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier) was invented by JVC, and introduced in 1998. Through constant refinement, it has become theultimate display technology for high-end, high definition home theater. D-ILA is a proprietary form of Liquid Crystal on Silicon. Becauseit is reflective, D-ILA is highly efficient, offering excellent brightness for today's most demanding sources, including 3D.
For a true cinema experience a darkened room is always best, but it's no longer mandatory. The combination of our latest generation opticalengine, a new 230W Super High Pressure lamp and the highly reflective surface of the D-ILA device provide a remarkable picture with amplecontrast even in a room with ambient light. JVC's exclusive 3-Chip D-ILA light engine provides the highest resolution and the best picturedetail. Improved pixel alignment with negligible space between pixels ensures the greatest contrast and the highest light efficiency. JVC'sunique polarized wire grid system further improves contrast and reduces light leakage.
D-ILA Procision projectors are characterized by natural pixel-free film-like images with smooth gray scale and rich, highly accuratecolors, thanks to tightly-spaced pixels and liquid crystal blending. What's more, D-ILA chips have no spatial dithering that causes noisein the low black levels.
Contrast ratio - a specification that describes a device's ability to reproduce deep blacks and bright whites - is widely recognized as a keyperformance parameter for home theater display products.

Native contrast has been the defining feature for JVC D-ILA projectors for years, and it creates an amazing picture. When engaged, the Intelligent Lens Aperture opens or closes to provide deeper blacks or brighter whites, as needed for a particularscene. Intelligent Lens Aperture is unique in that it offers a level of performance that would not be possible without the outstanding NativeContrast that JVC offers as a foundation. There are two auto modes: One regulates the aperture. The other regulates both aperture and gamma. Usingthe Intelligent Lens Aperture, Dynamic Contrast is increased600,000:1 for the DLA-X500R, 1,200,000:1 for the DLA-X700R & 1,500,000:1 for ourflagship DLA-X900RKT.

All JVC Procision X-Series models are 3D enabled. JVC uses a Frame Sequential Method that provides a full 1920 x 1080 resolution to eacheye without crosstalk and flicker. Images are so realistic and so natural-looking that it's like being pulled into the scene. With theframe sequential method, separate left-eye and right-eye images are alternated and require active shutter glasses to perceive the imagecorrectly. RF active shutter glasses and RF emitter are optional with the DLA-X500R.

Used with a Cinemascope screen to display images from 2.35:1 video that are 75% larger and without letterbox bars, instead of 33% smaller and withletterbox bars, as is the case with fixed 16:9 displays.
Lens memory makes it possible to maintain a constant viewing height with various aspect ratios. Movies can be viewed at the same height as networkprogramming, but with an expanded width for a more engaging experience-the way Hollywood intended.
JVC has enhanced Lens Memory on all 4K e-shift3 projectors with increased precision. The DLA-X500R offers 5 Lens Memories to support a wide rangeof formats.
All JVC Procision projectors use a premium lens that offers both the highest resolution and the easiest installation.
Many home theaters have obstructions or other installation challenges. With a 100" wide screen, a 2X Zoom makes it possible to set up the projectoras close as 11 feet or as far away as 23 feet. The 80% vertical and 34% horizontal lens shift enables far more flexibility in setting up theprojector, as it allows the projected picture to be easily moved horizontally or vertically. As a result, the projector does not need to beperfectly centered with the screen. Motorized control of the zoom, focus and lens shift permits adjustment from the remote for easiest operation.
All 4K e-shift3 models feature a 7-Axis Color Management System. In addition to the ordinary 6-axis matrix of red, green, blue, cyan,magenta and yellow; a seventh matrix for orange is included. The CMS provides for precise adjustment of hue, saturation and brightness foreach color to allow accurate calibration of the projector's color gamut.
The addition of the orange axis also helps pinpoint the color spectrum for skin tones. For improved operability, only the color beingadjusted is shown on the screen while the others are displayed in black and white.
All JVC 4K e-shift3 projectors offer excellent alignment of the imaging devices as they ship from the factory. For the ultimate in alignment,installers and advanced hobbyists can utilize an advanced convergence adjustment that can be applied in increments of 1/16th of a pixel to any of121 different zones across the screen.
JVC D-ILA projectors provide a range of predefined color profiles that offer faithful image quality with a wide variety of content.
Profiles were developed after analysis of film prints from major Hollywood filmmakers and other content, such as live concerts, animation, sportsand music videos.
The quality of projected images varies depending on the type of screen and its RGB reflective characteristics. JVC D-ILA Procisionprojectors have screen adjustment modes that enable users to select the optimum mode to match those screen characteristics for more naturaland balanced color reproduction. Clear Motion Drive 3 is the JVC 120hz high speed display process which is designed to improve video with rapid movement. For 2014, it has beendramatically improved and can now be used in 4K and 3D as well as Full HD. JVC has further enhanced its detection interpolation technology throughhigh precision algorithms. Two modes are available to smooth motion in a wider range of video content. Clear Motion Drive reduces blur that isgenerated by high speed scenes such as sporting events and high speed action sequences, enhancing the viewing experience.
All JVC D-ILA Procision projectors feature a user-friendly, ergonomic remote with full illumination. Direct access keys are provided forvirtually every possible picture adjustment. Discrete power on/off controls & codes are essential for system integration.
A wide variety of methods are available for system control. All JVC D-ILA Procision projectors offer a 12V trigger that can be configured for usewith either a motorized screen or with an anamorphic lens. A 3D Synchro connection is provided for the 3D Emitter. RS-232 and LAN connections areprovided for more advanced system integration.
