This 24mm equivalent lens features a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture to help control focus position and better enable working in low-light conditions. One aspherical element is incorporated within the design, which controls chromatic and spherical aberrations as well as reduces the overall size and weight of the lens. Additionally, an internal focusing design is employed to maintain the sleek profile of the lens during use, which also contributes to fast focusing speeds and quiet operation to suit both stills and video use.

Wide-angle prime 16mm lens provides a 24mm equivalent focal length with APS-C-format image sensors.
Bright f/2.8 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also contributes to using selective focus techniques.
One aspherical element reduces aberrations and distortions for sharper, clearer image quality.
The lens' sleek pancake design measures 0.9"-thick and weighs 2.4 oz, making it an ideal everyday lens for walk-around shooting.
Internal focusing design only moves the middle elements for changing focus, which maintains the overall length of the lens during use, quickens focusing speeds, and helps to achieve a minimum focusing distance of 9.4". Additionally, the front filter ring of the lens does not rotate during use to better enable working with circular polarizers and graduated ND filters.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm creates a pleasing out-of-focus quality with shallow depth of field imagery.
